LIXIL makes pioneering water and housing products that solve everyday, real-life challenges, making better homes a reality for everyone, everywhere.
Craftsmanship and artistic design go hand-in-hand. Aesthetic beauty is critically important in developing living spaces, and LIXIL is passionate in its quest for beauty. In our galleries, we showcase ideas that have made our lives better over the ages. We support artists to present their creative minds and allow them to venture into the unknown world. We explore the world in which art, craftsmanship and technology unite, continuously pushing the boundaries of creativity.
For over 30 years, we have been pursuing unique angles and perspectives from a broad spectrum of architecture, design and related fields, developing four informative exhibitions annually on topics ranging from architecture, design, life & culture, and natural science. These exhibitions are toured successively in LIXIL GALLERY 1 and LIXIL GALLERY Osaka.
Through these exhibitions, we introduce innovative and creative ideas that mankind has developed through the ages, livelihoods in historical times and different cultures, ways in which people have appreciated nature, designs enriching industrial developments and much more.
LIXIL GALLERY 2 is dedicated to exhibitions relating to architecture and art. Since September, 2014, we have been running a series of four three-month long exhibitions a year under the common theme of the "Future of Creation".
Four leading Japanese creators - art director Toshio Shimizu, metal artist Ryohei Miyata, and architects Toyo Ito and Kengo Kuma – take turns supervising these exhibitions, each with its own theme and embodying innovative ideas that are in the making.
LIXIL GALLERY 3 is dedicated to exhibitions of ceramics. With Koichi Mori, Art Critic and Executive Director of the Japan Ceramics Society, as our advisor, we host exhibitions of contemporary ceramic artists under the umbrella theme of "Living and Art".
We explore the limitless opportunities of how clay can form into different shapes and textures, building on the artists' imaginations.
