LIXIL makes pioneering water and housing products that solve everyday, real-life challenges, making better homes a reality for everyone, everywhere.
At LIXIL, we design water and sanitation products that matter to people, including the SATO toilets and the SATO Tap, a range of affordable and innovative sanitation and hygiene solutions developed to meet the specific needs of consumers in some of the poorest and most remote parts of the world. UNICEF works with different partners in over 100 countries to generate demand for water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services, drawing on decades of experience.
Together, LIXIL and UNICEF are pioneering new ways to tackle the global challenges in sanitation and hygiene. We call on others to join us in developing competitive markets. By making quality products available, ready for installation, easy to maintain, and supported by waste management systems, communities can become healthier and more prosperous.
We believe we can make a significant contribution to delivering on the globally agreed Sustainable Development Goal Target 6.2: to achieve access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all, and end open defecation, paying special attention to the needs of women and girls and those in vulnerable situations.
This partnership aims to demonstrate that there are markets with business opportunities for private players to enter. In partnership with UNICEF, Governments, NGOs and communities, we can support the development of sustainable sanitation economies that benefit everyone. By creating demand for sanitation products like toilets, improving supply of such products, and supporting opportunities for affordable finance, LIXIL and UNICEF and expand this market for the better future of all children, their families and communities.
The partnership started in Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania, and is now expanding to India, Indonesia and Nigeria to provide children, their families and communities with affordable and appropriately designed toilets and hand-washing stations like LIXIL’s SATO.
But there’s a lot more to be done. Join us to end the global crisis.
